Cressida Bell's Clouds & Stars lampshade depicts just that - but the matching base is more stars and stripes which gives it a bit of an American accent. It's a simple arrangement of stars which is a bit more fiddly than it looks to paint.
These unique lamp bases are designed to go with her selection of lampshades. They are made of turned elm and produced especially for them in Sussex. Cressida paints each one by hand which means no two are ever the same – though perfection is her aim. They are all bear her painted signature near to the base.
After painting they receive a protective semi-matt varnish and are fitted with a brass switched bayonet cap lampholder and a classic linen-covered stripey cream & black flex.
